MVA are making a long-term call for volunteers to offer
befriending support this coming winter season and beyond. The time commitments for the volunteer wouldn’t be huge – up to an hour a fortnight to support someone who is feeling lonely or isolated - and full training will be provided for the role.
You can view a copy of their Befriending Flyer by
clicking here - please share this with anyone you know who may be able to spare some time for a lonely or isolated person in their community;
there are people waiting right now for a befriender.
For more information, or to
register your interest, you can contact Helen Steedan, Befriending Engagement and Volunteering Officer at MVA, on 01634 564939, or you can
email them at befriending@mva.org.uk.
This service would be seen as a lifeline for many people in community, not least for those who are socially isolated or lonely at this time of year - so if you have an hour to spare, please get in touch with the team.
Do you need help recruiting more volunteers? If so, get involved with the
Medway Volunteers Network (MVN) today - it is a valuable community programme which was created to support local voluntary, community, social enterprise and faith sector.
They provide a range of
support and information for the person offering their volunteering services, as well as to the charity or good cause should they need it. To find out more, contact Sky Crook, Volunteering and Community Development Officer, at MVA on 01634 812850 or email at volunteering@mva.org.uk.
