Core Cost Funding News Round-up (part 2 of 4), July 2024

Here is another collection of funding announcements and resources aimed at helping charities continue their work to help others.

Due to the varying nature and progress of public policies and other related activity, MVA do advise that some of the information below may have changed since the time of its issue, and whilst every effort has been made to provide up-to-date details, they ask that readers please check with each organisation’s website for the latest news.

Funding from Dulverton Trust Fund
The Dulverton Trust makes grants to UK registered charities and CIOs with a national footprint that provide youth opportunities, improve general welfare of their community, promote conservation of habitats, or the preservation of heritage skills.

Project and core costs are considered.

At the time of writing, although there was no specified deadline suggesting applications can be accepted at any time, the Trust do advise meetings are held in February, June, and October each year to consider bids.

For more information and how to apply, visit The Trust's website.

Funding from Woodward Charitable Trust
The Woodward Charitable Trust makes grants for core costs to small UK registered charities, CIOs and CICs who are making a difference on at least one of the Trust’s three target groups:
  • Children and young people (up to 25 years old)
  • Disadvantaged families
  • Prisoners and ex-offenders
The trustees welcome projects that promote community cohesion and the development of skills that will change the outlook and outcomes for the users.

The Trust also say that organisations which promote volunteering and involve both past and present users in their operations or management are encouraged to apply.

At the time of writing, whilst The Trust point out the scheme is a Continuous Rolling Programme – and applications will be accepted at any time – their Trustees usually meet in March and October to review applications and ask interested parties to visit their website for upcoming dates.

More information and how to apply can be found at The Trust's website.

Grant Funding from The Garfield Weston Foundation
The Garfield Weston Foundation awards grants to UK registered charities, CIOs, organisations that are either exempt under the Charity Commission guidelines; or are registered charities or housing associations with activity in the following areas:
  • Welfare
  • Youth
  • Community
  • Arts
  • Faith
  • Environment
  • Education
  • Health
  • Museums and Heritage
The Foundation say their grant can support capital projects, operating or core costs, project costs or specific activity.

Whilst the Foundation say applicants do not have to ask for a specific amount, interested parties are welcome to share their total funding need and shortfall.

The Foundation do point out they should not be the sole funder of a project, activity or an organisation’s operating cost, and advise applicants consider this into their fundraising strategy.

At the time of writing, there was no recognised deadline, suggesting this is a Continuous Rolling Programme and applications can be accepted at any time.

For more information and how to apply, visit The Foundation's website.
