Here is another collection of funding announcements and resources aimed at helping charities continue their work to help others.
Due to the varying nature and progress of public policies and other related activity, MVA do advise that some of the information below may have changed since the time of its issue, and whilst every effort has been made to provide up-to-date details, they ask that readers please check with each organisation’s website for the latest news.
The Allen Lane Foundation
The
Allen Lane Foundation awards grants to small UK charities, voluntary groups, and charitable organisations that work in particular with these beneficiary groups:
- Asylum seekers and refugees
- Gypsies and travellers
- Offenders and ex-offenders
- Older people
- People experiencing mental health problems
- People experiencing violence or abuse
- Young people
The Foundation aims to fund work that:
- makes a lasting difference to people’s lives rather than simply alleviating the symptoms or current problems
- is aimed at reducing isolation, stigma and discrimination, or
- encourages or enables unpopular groups to share in the life of the whole community
The Foundation aims to help organisations to become sustainable and
will support running and core costs
to enable them to have flexibility, security and longevity.
The Foundation also say they are interested in funding charitable causes which they believe to be unpopular both in society, and with other funders.
At the time of writing, there was no recognised deadline, suggesting this is a Continuous Rolling Programme and applications can be accepted at any time.

more information and
how to apply, visit The
Foundation's website.
Funding from The Marsh Charitable Trust
The
Marsh Christian Trust makes unrestricted grants to small UK registered charities working in the fields of:
- Literature, arts and heritage
- Social welfare
- Environmental causes and animal welfare
- Education and training
- Healthcare
The Trust advise the funding can be
used to pay for various running costs, such as volunteer expenses, training days, equipment maintenance and
other core outgoings.
At the time of writing, whilst The Trust point out the scheme is a Continuous Rolling Programme – and applications will be accepted at any time –decisions can normally take two months.

The Foyle Foundation (Main Grants Scheme)
The Foyle Foundation’s Main Grants Scheme awards one-year grants to UK registered charities whose core work covers
Arts and
Learning.
Arts
The Foundation seeks applications that make a strong artistic case for support in either the performing or visual arts, and their Arts programme aims to help sustain the arts and to support projects that help to deliver your artistic vision.
The Foundation say they seek to support organisations to stabilise and recover from the impact of COVID-19, and so look for value for money, long-term benefit and sustainability in projects that they support.
Grants can be used towards:
- Core costs – especially those with no, or without significant, public funding
- Essential equipment or re-equipping to enable ongoing service provision, delivery of on-line digital services and education work
- Projects/schemes that employ or support skilled freelance and independent artists and practitioners
- Capital projects (The Foundation stress certain conditions apply, and advise interested parties should check their website before applying)
Learning
The Foundation will support projects which facilitate the gaining of knowledge, and which have a long-term strategic impact.
Key areas for support are:
- Libraries, museums and archives
- Special Educational Needs (SEN)
- Projects that encourage sustainability by reducing overheads or which help generate additional revenue. This might include environmental improvements to save energy and lower carbon emissions where a cost benefit can be demonstrated
- Projects and activities which increase access and widen the diversity of attenders/visitors
The Foundation say State funded mainstream schools and Universities are eligible to enquire but specify conditions do apply and again ask that interested parties check on their website for specific details.
At the time of writing this is a Continuous Rolling Programme and applications can be accepted at any time.
More
information and how to apply can be found at the Foundation’s
website.
