Funding Round-up – General (Part 1), May/June 2022

Here is another collection of recent local and national general funding announcements for the Voluntary Sector.

Due to the varying nature and progress of public policies and other related activity, MVA do advise that some of the information below may have changed since the time of its issue, and whilst every effort has been made to provide up-to-date details, they ask that readers please check with each organisation’s website for the latest news.

The Chelsea and Mr French Fund from the Kennel Club Charitable Trust
Grants from the Kennel Club Charitable Trust are available to local dog welfare and animal health charities working to support dog owners in the UK in times of personal struggle.
The aim of the fund is to provide respite and relief to vulnerable people who need temporary care for their dogs in times of crisis or struggle.
At the time of writing, there was no recognised deadline, suggesting this is a Continuous Rolling Programme and applications can be accepted at any time.

Charles Hayward Foundation
Grants are available from the Charles Hayward Foundation to charities for projects involved with Heritage and Conservation, Social and Criminal Justice, Projects Overseas, and Older People.
The Foundation offers:
The Foundations says funding is available for project costs and capital expenditure.
The next deadline for applications is 12th August 2022 with further dates to be announced later this year, however The Foundation says applications for the Small Grants Programme are accepted at any time.

Safer Streets Fund
Grants of up to £750,000 from the UK’s Home Office are available to Police and Crime Commissioners and local authorities in England and Wales to support crime prevention plans in areas affected by high levels of neighbourhood crime.
Eligible projects should aim to:
  • Reduce neighbourhood crime: domestic burglary, robbery, theft from person, vehicle crime
  • Reduce anti-social behaviour (ASB)
  • Reduce violence against women and girls (VAWG) in public spaces; this includes the night-time economy
  • Increase feelings of safety from VAWG and ASB in public places
The deadline for this round is 27th May 2022 with further dates to be announced in later seasons.

Veterans' Foundation
Grants of up to £30,000 are available from the Veterans' Foundation to support not-for-profit organisations that provide lifetime support to those in need among serving Armed Forces personnel, veterans, and their immediate families.
The funding can be used for projects covering a range of aspects of social care for the Armed Forces community, which can include:
  • Reducing homelessness
  • Increasing employment
  • Reducing dependence on alcohol and drugs
  • Reducing poverty
  • Disability and mental health
  • Marriage guidance
  • Care during old age
The application deadline for this season is 20th May 2022, however further application calls are expected later in the year.
