Guides, Translators, Funding and More - Charity Sector Ukraine Resources, April 2022

MVA offers some useful resources from national organisation NAVCA for anyone supporting Ukrainian people arriving in the UK.

In light of the situation overseas many are being forced, to make the difficult choice of leaving their homes to find safety for themselves and those they care about.

Because of these recent events, it is expected the UK will see refugees arriving over the coming months in need of a reassuring welcome and expert support.

National organisation NAVCA have collected these useful resources for anyone supporting Ukrainian people arriving in the UK:

• Welcome: a guide for Ukrainians arriving in the UK - for Ukrainians arriving in the UK, it covers what they need to know in your first few days and getting used to life in the UK. Includes how to find accommodation, access essential public services, healthcare, find work and childcare and education services.
• Homes for Ukraine: factsheet for Ukrainians – now open for applications, the factsheet (available in Ukrainian and Russian) explains how Ukrainians can apply to the scheme.
• Homes for Ukraine scheme: frequently asked questions – supporting page offering answers on how the scheme will work.
• Q&A with the Home Office on the Ukraine visa process – Q&A video to help all those seeking to assist Ukrainians to come to the UK.
• Homes for Ukraine Sponsor Toolkit – a document resource from national organisation RESET, to help those sponsoring Ukrainians.
• Charity Translators - Ukraine-related language support (including volunteer opportunities!)
• Greater Manchester Community Response Fund: Ukraine Crisis - Donations will support:
  • a hardship fund for new arrivals from Ukraine - distributed through trusted community partners, and
  • Small grants to local VCSE organisations that are playing an active, practical role in providing support.

The Charity Commission has also published new guidance for charities and trustees on supporting Ukraine.
