Small Charities Week 2022

Small Charity Week 2022 - Monday 20th June to Friday 24th June

Small Charity Week is an annual campaign which was first established by the Foundation for Social Improvement (the FSI) in 2010 to celebrate and raise the profile of the small charity sector. From 2020 the campaign is now delivered by The FSI, NCVO, NAVCA, Local Giving and Small Charities Coalition, all passionate about the work of the Small Charity Sector. The week is organised as a series of activities and initiatives to support and raise awareness of the hundreds and thousands of small charities that, every day, make a huge difference to vulnerable communities right across the UK.

Small Charity Week aims to:

  • Celebrate the contribution that small charities make to communities throughout the UK
  • Improve the knowledge, representation and sustainability of small charities
  • Highlight the work of the small charity sector to the broadest possible audience
  • Encourage public giving
  • Work with the small charity sector to develop political engagement at a national and local level

How Medway Voluntary Action (MVA) Can Support Small Charities

MVA are committed to supporting small local charities and community groups across Medway, and some of the ways we do this include:

Access to Free Online Training Resources

MVA have a free online training resources webpage which small charities find especially helpful. You can view this page on their website HERE.

Income Generation Opportunities Through The Involving Medway Focus Group Programme

Involving Medway is a community health engagement partnership between community organisations and NHS Kent & Medway Clinical Commissioning Group aimed at building healthier communities. The programme is managed by MVA and encourages and supports participation in community groups and activities, helping to beat social isolation and improve the community’s mental health and wellbeing overall.

The program is designed to support existing community organisations to upskill their team and provide a 'voice' that can be heard for their service users. VCS organisations, groups or clubs delivering the Focus Groups on behalf of the Involving Medway programme can receive a payment between £100 and £150, depending on the number of participants taking part.

MVA’s New Cost of Living Impact Quick Poll for Medway VCS Organisations

MVA are also currently carrying out some local research on how the current cost of living increases are impacting VCS organisations in Medway. Click HERE to complete the poll and have your say (it should only take a minute).

Findings from this survey will then be shared with the sector on MVA’s website.

The Support Doesn’t Stop There!

These are just a few of the support services that MVA offer. Click HERE to download MVA’s leaflet to find out about the large range of FREE support services they offer for small VCS organisations and community groups in Medway.
