Volunteers' Week 2024 - Medway Events FREE for you and your volunteers to join

Volunteers’ Week is an annual celebration of volunteers across the UK. 2024 is the 40th Anniversary of this event and will run from Monday 3rd to Sunday 9th June.

This year’s Big Help Out event where people have an opportunity to join in a range of volunteer taster sessions will coincide with Volunteers' Week and run from Friday 7th to Sunday 9th June.

Every year there are hundreds of events planned around the country to mark the unique and life changing contributions that volunteers make.

Medway Volunteer Network delivered by MVA will be joining in the celebrations and will be hosting two events during the week to thank and support the Medway VCSEF to promote its current vacancies to anyone thinking about volunteering.

This event has three ways to join in.

1. ‘Thank you’ Event for Volunteers

We would like to say a big thank you to and celebrate the difference volunteer support makes to local communities. Free refreshments and a little thank you gift for existing volunteers to take home will be available on the day.

If you volunteer, do pop in for a cup of tea and a chance to tell us about what you do. You are welcome to come along by yourself or together with your volunteer team for a Volunteers’ Week ‘moment’ where volunteers are centre of attention.

2. Medway Volunteer Fair

A ‘Volunteer Fair’ is an opportunity for organisations looking for volunteers and people thinking about volunteering to get together to find out more about each other.

All sorts of local organisations will be there at the event looking for all sorts of volunteers. Everything from supporting people with cancer to refurbishing tools to fundraising event days. There are even ways to help from the comfort of your own sofa!

There is no ‘right’ way to volunteer. All volunteering makes a difference and can offer volunteers all sorts of fantastic experiences. The Medway Volunteer Fair is a great opportunity to find out more what organisations do, who they support, and how you can get involved.

Registration is still open for organisations currently recruiting volunteers in Medway. Please fill in this registration form to let MVA know you would like a space at the Volunteer Fair by filling in this form:

Please do book in as soon as possible so we can ensure there is enough space for everyone who would like to be there!

Current volunteers or those thinking about volunteering do not need to book and are welcome to just drop in on the day between 11 am and 1 pm.

3. Information about Health Research

There are unlimited ways to volunteer time to make a difference. Participating in health research is definitely not all about taking medication.

Nor do not need to have a health condition to help. Come along to find out more about this unique opportunity to improve lives both now and for future generations.

Big Help Out!
If you would like a practical opportunity to see how you can make a difference in your community, why not join Medway Change Makers for a Big Help Out! event on Saturday 8th May.

A litter pick in Gillingham Waterfront UTC will be followed by exciting craft workshops led by local artists to transform rubbish into art. Save the date and check out social media platforms nearer the time or contact maria@ideastest.co.uk for more information about how to sign up.

If your organisation is offering other Big Help Out! events in Medway do send information to comms@mva.org.uk so we can let people know how to get involved.
