Training Dogs Fosterer
In this rewarding role, your support for a guide dog in training will include: • Doing the school run for your dog in training! This will typically involve dropping them off and picking them up at an agreed time Monday to Friday at one of our regional centres or community teams, however, some sites may vary. There are some locations where we will be able to collect and return the training dog from your home. Take a look here to find your local guide dog training site and any alternative arrangements they have in place for dogs in training. • Caring for your dog in your home such as feeding, grooming, free running and playing, following the advice of our expert staff. • Helping your dog keep up with their training by reinforcing the techniques at home from our first-class training programme. • Making sure your dog is not left alone for more than four hours in a 24-hour period. If you’re planning on going on holiday, let us know at your initial phone call so we can plan alternative cover for your future life changer. Can I foster a dog? If you’re hoping to foster a guide dog in training, here’s what we ideally look for: • Being close to one of our regional centres or community teams so that your dog can get to their training. • The agreement of your landlord to have a dog in your home if you rent your home. • A safe and secure area outside for the dog to go to the toilet. Collection Box Coordinator
In this community-spirited volunteer role, your support will include getting involved in these activities: • Getting out and about to display our iconic collection boxes in your local community. • Emptying and banking funds in the collection boxes, meaning you can see how much money you have helped us raise. • Networking with organisations to share our cause and encourage them to display our collection boxes. • Being an ambassador for Guide Dogs! You'll ideally: • Have good organisational skills to organise distribution of collection boxes. • Have good communication skills to spread the word about Guide Dogs. Volunteer merchandise coordinator
In this creative volunteer role, your support will include: • Using your imagination to create creative displays of merchandise for events. • Storing stock within your home and helping to dispatch the materials for events. • Ordering more teddies, pens, badges, and other materials for local events to help capture the interest of the general public. You’ll ideally have: • Good organisation and planning skills. • A creative touch for displaying merchandise. • Space within your home to store merchandise. Volunteer Fundraising Group Coordinator
We rely on volunteers like you to help us improve the lives of people with sight loss. In this role your support will include: · Supporting in organising and attending events and collections in your local area, such as Great Guide Dogs Tea Party. Informing your key contact and relevant members of these events. · Supporting in building relationships with local networks, organisations, schools, and social groups to host events or to name their own puppy. · Delegating tasks and responsibilities to other volunteers within your fundraising group in the absence of the Fundraising Group Coordinator. · Supporting in making sure fundraising policies and procedures are followed; including all roles are maintaining their required records. This role has one hour of training and then you’ll be ready to go! If you have questions about the training requirements, we can answer these at your interview along with any other support or accessibility needs you may have. Volunteering for Guide Dogs should never leave you out of pocket. We’ll make sure we pay any expenses related to your volunteering with us in line with our policy. Co-Opted School Governor at Luton Primary School Luton Primary School sits within the heart of the community of Luton and serves a diverse local population. Luton Primary School has recently merged into the Rivermead Inclusive Trust, the nature of governance has changed for Luton Primary, and with this change has come vacancies. We’re looking for new LAB members, to being new energy and ideas. We’re particularly looking for local people with expertise in: Diversity, Equity and Inclusion, safeguarding, and SEND. You don’t need to be an educationalist, although we also welcome those working in Primary, Secondary or further education.
